Journalist leaders have demanded the withdrawal of the case against journalist Rozina Islam and the formation of a committee to investigate the incident. They made the demand after meeting Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

At this time, the leaders of the journalists made various demands related to the interests of the journalists including enacting the Journalist Protection Act, passing the Media Workers Act, amending and implementing the Wage Board. Sajjad Alam Khan, general secretary of Dhaka Journalists Union, who was present at the meeting, gave this information to Trusted Ultra.

According to BSS, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said that various demands, including the withdrawal of the case against Rozina Islam, a senior reporter of Prothom Alo, have been raised by the journalist leaders. He will talk to the Prime Minister about the solution. The Minister said that the Prime Minister was looking at the issue of Rozina Islam in a very humane manner.

The general secretary of the Awami League said that the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is journalist-friendly. They do not want the government to have a hostile relationship with the media.

During the meeting with Obaidul Quader, the journalists included former Information Adviser to the Prime Minister Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, former President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, former Secretary-General Omar Farooq, current Acting Secretary-General Abdul Majid, President of National Press Club Farida Yasmin.

President of Dhaka Journalists Union Quddus Afrad, General Secretary Sajjad Alam Khan, Chairman of Broadcast Journalists Center Rezwanul Haque and Member Secretary Shakil Ahmed, General Secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity Moshiur Rahman Khan and others were present.
